It has the forequarters and hindlegs of a hare (Lepus), and the back, wings and tail of a female wood grouse (Tetrao urogallus). A skvader is a fictional rabbit that has the wings and a tail of a wood grouse. The creature was first created in Sweden by taxidermist Rudolf Granberg in 1918. Hakan Dahlmark told a dinner tale of such a beast he hunted and bagged to his guests’ amusement. Later, his housekeeper created a painting of the animal and presented it to him.
